A Jimmy Yobo brace spearheaded Stade Français Paris’ charge to a crucial 39-24 triumph over Krasny Yar at the Stade Jean Bouin on Friday evening as the French side revived their European Rugby Challenge Cup hopes.

  • Yobo crossed in two of five Stade Francais Paris scores as they collected their first victory of the European campaign, with a bonus point to boot, moving them second in Pool 4, three points behind Edinburgh Rugby, who face London Irish on Saturday.
  • It was not all plain sailing for the Top 14 side, though, as Russian club Krasny Yar offered a spirited first-half display, leading 9-3 through the boot of Lasha Malaguradze after the first quarter, only for Stade to overturn the scoreboard and take a 17-12 into the break through Yobo's tries.
  • Shane Geraghty added the extras to the Parisian tally, but a Giorgi Pruidze try shortly after the restart gave Krasny Yar hope of a shock result.
  • However, the French side strode on as replacement Siegfried Fisi'ihoi and full-back Romain Martial scored tries within five minutes of each other to push the hosts into a comfortable lead.
  • Sunia Latu scored what would only be a consolation for the visitors on the 74th minute as they slipped to the foot of Pool 4, but Stade Francais Paris would have the final say as Julien Arias touched down one minute from time.
