A Jamie Roberts hat-trick of tries was the highlight of a 75-3 bonus point victory that swept them above Edinburgh Rugby as they clinically punished the Romania side who were forced to play a man short for 78 minutes after flanker Randall Morrison was given his marching orders even before some of the crowd had time to settle into their seats.
 
That ended it as a contest virtually before it had started as John Kingston’s Quins followed up their 42-3 away win in Round 3 with this rout that leaves them unbeaten at home during all tournaments this season.
 
But while the Stoop showdown with Edinburgh in Round 5 could settle the group honours, it was an absolute nightmare start for the Romanians as New Zealand born Romanian international flanker Morrison was sent off by French referee Thomas Charabas after just two minutes.
 
It meant Timisoara Saracens were a man short for almost all the action as a result of Morrison’s high tackle on wing Marland Yarde – and the points inevitably started to pile up almost immediately – although Quins also ended up a man short when Mat Luamanu was also red carded at the death for a dangerous tackle.
 
An inside pass put flanker Luke Wallace over for the opening try, converted by Ruaridh Jackson, and when Quins moved the ball wide wing Tim Visser showed some nifty footwork to cross for their second try.
 
Jackson – who converted all five tries scored in Romania – added the extra points and was on target yet again when Welsh star Roberts got try No 3 to start building up his hat-trick.
 
Roberts bagged his second – and Quins’ bonus point fourth try – after being fed by Danny Care with sweet line-out possession and with the home side free to play with abandon Mike Brown crossed for the fifth.
 
Quins could well afford to take Jackson off for the second half after the outside half had taken a slight knock and the tries started to flow again with Yarde getting his second and replacement Tim Swiel carrying on where Jackson left off with the conversion.
 
Loosehead prop Jack Clifford then got in on the try-scoring act from a rolling maul and although GabrielConache finally got Timisoara on the scoreboard with a penalty Harlequins topped the half century of points when Roberts completed his hat-trick.
 
Yarde and Brown each added further scores before Swiel wrapped matters up with a superb solo effort for try No 11.
