Edinburgh have won their last three matches in the Challenge Cup against Aviva Premiership opposition, and will look to start strongly on Saturday having scored 19 first half tries in last season’s competition. They travel to the Madejski Stadium, home of London Irish who haven’t lost consecutive home Challenge Cup matches since 1997.
Edinburgh ran in five tries – including two in the first half by Junior Rasolea – to see off London Irish comfortably at the Madejski Stadium in the Pool 4 opener.
- Damien Hoyland stretched over before Rasolea raced clear for his first try to put the Scottish side 12-3 ahead.
- ?Ollie Hoskins gave the Exiles hope with what turned out to be their only score, but Rasolea crossed in the corner to put the Pro14 side in control at the interval.
- Jamie Ritchie and Luke Crosbie (see pic above) touched down out wide to keep Edinburgh well in charge.
- Irish could only managed three second-half points courtesy of Theo Brophy Clews' boot.
- “I was really pleased with the application of the players and their ambition to play exciting rugby,” said Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill afterwards.
