La Rochelle will strive to assert their dominance on European Rugby Champions Cup Pool 1 on Sunday as they welcome Wasps to the Stade Marcel-Flandre, live on BT Sport.

  • Back-to-back bonus-point victories over Harlequins and Ulster Rugby in the opening rounds have left French Top 14 side La Rochelle clear at the Pool 1 summit with 10 points, with Wasps, their nearest competitors, five points behind.
  • Last season's Premiership runners-up Wasps come into Round 3 of European in the midst of a four-match winning streak in all competitions and will be encouraged by the sight of British & Irish Lions winger Elliot Daly's first domestic try of the season last weekend.
  • La Rochelle have won back-to-back Top 14 fixtures ahead of their European double-header with Wasps – this being the first meeting between the clubs in Europe.
  • Wasps wing Christian Wade has made 171 metres in the Champions Cup so far, ranking him the seventh-best attacking force in the competition, but he will come up against La Rochelle's Kevin Gourdon, the fifth best defender with 29 tackles to his name.

La Rochelle maintained their 100 per cent record in European Rugby Champions Cup Pool 1 with a 49-29 victory over Wasps who drop to third as a result.

·   The visitors lost original full-back selection Willie Le Roux due to illness prior to kick-off and forward Thomas Young to the sin-bin after only seven minutes for a tip-tackle.

·    Winger Vincent Rattez and flanker Levani Botia led the way with a brace of tries apiece as Wasps were condemned to their second defeat in their opening three games to drop to third in Pool 1 behind Ulster.

·  Centre Pierre Aguillon, hooker Pierre Bourgarit also crossed for tries as the French side continue to light up the pool stages with their attacking brand of rugby.

·   Wasps were guilty of a series of handling errors and had a mountain to climb when they trailed 30-12 at half-time.

·   The visitors gained some consolation by claiming a four-try bonus point with touchdowns from Thomas Young and the opening try of the game by Rob Miller plus second half efforts from winger Elliot Daly, Joe Simpson and William Stuart but they were never within striking distance.

·    Wasps must now strike back immediately when the sides meet in the return at the Ricoh Arena next Sunday.
