Italian club Treviso ran in four tries to complete a Heineken Cup double over Bourgoin at Stadio Comunale di Monigo yesterday.
The win is the third Cup victory of the season for former All Black winger Craig Green’s men and gives them a mathematical chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals. Things don’t get much easier for the Italians, though, as their must-win final Pool game is away to Irish heavyweights Leinster.
Treviso trailed 19-20 at halftime, but three tries in the final 20 minutes secured the bonus-point victory. Bourgoin showed more fight than in previous Cup matches this season, but needed the boot of Alexandre Peclier (19 points) to stay in touch.
Treviso centre Marius Goosen also had his kicking boots on, converting all four tries and adding four penalty goals to score half of his side’s 40 points.
