Racing 92 will have revenge on their mind this weekend as they head to Thomond Park to face Munster

Racing 92 will have revenge on their mind this weekend as they head to Thomond Park to face Munster, live on Sky Sports. The two sides met at the pool stages last year, with Munster coming out on top in both games including a 32-7 victory in France.

· Munster have won 28 of their last 30 home matches in the pool stage, with only Leicester Tigers and ASM Clermont Auvergne coming away with victories from Thomond Park during that run.

· Racing have lost their last four away games, their worst run on the road in Europe.

· Munster drew against Castres in Round 1 – the last time they drew a European fixture was in October 1998 against Neath.

Munster Rugby edged a bruising Pool 4 encounter against Racing 92

Munster Rugby edged a bruising Pool 4 encounter against Racing 92

Munster Rugby edged a bruising Pool 4 encounter against Racing 92, claiming a 14-7 win on an emotionally charged evening at Thomond Park.

  • Two tries in nine minutes from Conor Murray and Andrew Conway saw the hosts take victory on the anniversary of the death of former Munster Rugby No 8 and head coach Anthony Foley.
  • Tragic news of Foley's passing broke on the eve of Munster Rugby's Pool clash with Racing 92 in France last season and the occasion was commemorated one year on with a minute of applause ahead of kick-off in Limerick.
  • With the score locked at 0-0 at half-time, it looked like one score could settle the game and Munster found favour as Murray charged down his opposite number Maxime Machenaud's box-kick to slide home the opening score of the game on the hour.
  • Ian Keatley added the extras and just nine minutes passed before Simon Zebo offered an excellent long ball in the direction of replacement winger Conway, who touched down in the corner and the Munster advantage was doubled to 14-0 courtesy of another conversion.
  • Defeat means Racing 92's poor record on the road now extends to five successive losses, but a late try from second-row Leone Nakarawa, converted by Teddy Iribaren, ensured they claimed a losing bonus-point to remain within one point of Leicester Tigers and Munster Rugby, who now head Pool 4 with six points apiece.
