Glasgow enter the Heineken Cup fray full of confidence after a valuable 21-5 away victory over Cardiff Blues. It could be the season that Galsgow shine as their squad matures.

Last season Glasgow toppled Toulouse and impressed with a robust style of play that is tribute to the development work Sean Lineen and his team have undertaken in recent seasons.

Many pundits have argued Pool 2 is the easiest of the six pools but the Scottish side still face a mighty task against the 2006 runners-up Biarritz first up at Firhill.

Lineen’s men have fond memories of beating the French giants on home soil with a slender 9-6 victory two years ago.

Biarritz, who sit in third place in the Top 14 have star names such as Jerome Thion, Imanol Harinordoquy and Dimitri Yachvili among the ranks so have enough firepower to halt the Glasgow bandwaggon.
