Racing 92 secured a place in this year’s European Rugby Champions Cup final after a stunning first half performance to defeat Munster Rugby 27-22 in Bordeaux.
24-year-old wing Teddy Thomas was outstanding throughout, scoring two tries and handing a third to scrum-half Maxime Machenaud, who scored 17 points in the match.
It was Thomas who opened the scoring on four minutes after Virimi Vakatawa teed him up with an excellent pass out wide and the same combination teamed up again for the second Racing 92 try.
Vakatawa was able to find a gap in the Munster line on this occasion, before handing off to Thomas for a simple score on 17 minutes.

Thomas could have had a first half hat-trick after just 20 minutes when darting past four Munster defenders, before handing to Machenaud to dot down a third Racing 92 try of the afternoon.
Munster applied plenty of pressure after the interval but didn’t trouble the scoresheet again until just after the hour mark when Simon Zebo dived over following a number of phases from the Irish province’s pack.
Tries from Rhys Marshall and Andrew Conway followed for Munster, but they were consolations only as Racing 92 held on to book their ticket to the Basque Country for the Champions Cup final next month.
The Parisians will take on Leinster Rugby – who are unbeaten in this season’s competition – in the showpiece final.
