Krasny Yar welcome London Irish to the Avchala Stadium on Saturday for a second meeting in a week as they lock horns in Round 6 of the European Rugby Challenge Cup.

  • London Irish, who currently sit bottom of the Aviva Premiership standings, travel to Russia with slender hopes of qualifying for the latter stages of the competition, but would be relying on the outcome of Stade Francais Paris' clash with Edinburgh Rugby.
  • Edinburgh have an unsurmountable lead at the head of Pool 4, but should Stade Francais Paris be defeated then London Irish could move up to as many as 16 points with a bonus-point win, giving them an outside chance of qualification.
  • To date Krasny Yar have collected just one win in the previous five rounds and London Irish ran out comfortable winners at the Madejski Stadium last weekend, with Theo Brophy-Clews racing in four tries in a 47-17 victory.
  • Despite their lack of success, Krasny Yar's Victor Gresev top the Challenge Cup charts for carries, with a stellar 107 to his name, while Exile Ben Ransom is joint fifth when it comes to offloading, completing eight.

London Irish concluded their European Rugby Challenge Cup Pool 4 campaign with a hard-fought victory over Krasny Yar in Georgian capital Tblisi.

  • The victory leaves the Exiles on 16 points and in second place behind Edinburgh Rugby. As the final whistle blew, they were left waiting on results elsewhere with two best runners-up spots to fight for.
  • After an early penalty for Lasha Malaguradze, Irish took the lead with a ninth-minute try from a lineout by Matt Williams, with Jacob Atkins converting.
  • However, after sustained pressure Viktor Arhip bundled over for a converted try giving the Russian side a 10-7 half-time lead.
  • That lead soon built to 17-7 with a try by prop Grigory Tsnobiladze and extras from Fangatapu Apikotoa.
  • However that was Krasny Yar's last contribution to the scoreline as Irish finished strongly, Joe Cokanasiga, Williams and David Paice all instrumental in setting up Tom Fowlie to score.
  • Fowlie scored again on 66 minutes – converted by Aktins – and with nine minutes to go Ben Loader had the freedom of Tblisi to stroll into space and score the visitors' fourth.
