Brian O’Driscoll grabbed a brace as Leinster mounted a second-half fight back to complete the double over Bourgoin.
The visitors trailed the home side 13-12 at the interval, but eventually triumphed 26-23. In doing so they maintained their grip on Pool 2, and now have their sights firmly focused on a place in the final eight.
Kiwi David Holwell converted both tries and added four penalty goals to complete the scoring for Leinster, who were made to work far harder than last weekend when they overpowered Bourgoin 92-17 at Lansdowne Road.
But Bourgoin made 10 changes for this match following criticism during the week. However, despite a much improved performance they were unable to stop the Irishmen, who now look a good bet for a quarter-final berth.
Benjamin Boyet and Jean-Francois Coux scored tries for Bourgoin, who remain bottom of the group without a win. Alexandre Peclier kicked both conversions and three penalties for the French team.
