Bayonne kept the pressure on London Wasps at the helm of Pool 3 in the Amlin Challenge Cup with a 12-6 victory over compatriots Bordeaux Begles on Thursday evening.

Benjamin Boyet kicked four penalties for the visitors as they claimed their fourth victory in the tournament.

Boyet kicked off the proceedings at Stade Andre Moga, slotting an early penalty after seven minutes.

Bordeaux fly-half Nicolas Sanchez missed the chance to level things for the hosts but Boyet had no problem with his second attempt, taking the scores to 6-0.

Replacement Manu Saubusse came off the bench to grab Bordeaux’s only points of the first period, kicking a penalty three minutes before the interval.

It was Boyet who had the first word of the second period though, slotting over his third penalty.

Saubusse and Boyet then exchanged penalties as the kicking dual continued but Bordeaux couldn’t close the deficit and Bayonne completed the double over their French rivals.
