Brive keep knockout phase hopes alive

Brive kept their hopes of a European Challenge Cup quarter-final place alive by defeating Zebre Rugby in Pool 4 on Friday night.

After an early exchange of penalties, Georgian scrum-half Vasil Lobzhanidze scored the first try of the game after 17 minutes with Tedo Abzhandadze converting.

It stayed 10-3 until half time, then two minutes after the re-start it was Lobzhanidze who crossed the whitewash again with Abzhandadze booting the extras.

It was Thomas Acquier who added Brive’s third, after a check with the TMO, on 71 minutes and there was time remaining for Zebre to register a try through Tomasso Boni three minutes from the final whistle.
