Stade Francais Paris welcome Edinburgh Rugby to the Stade Jean-Bouin on Saturday night as they seek to avenge their narrow last-gasp defeat in Round 5, in a game that will be shown live on BT Sport.

  • A late Junior Rasolea try at BT Murrayfield last Friday saw Edinburgh Rugby clinch a dramatic win and move 11 points clear at the Pool 4 summit in the European Rugby Challenge Cup, meaning their place in the quarter-finals is certain.
  • However, should Stade Francais Paris make amends for their defeat last weekend and topple the Pro14 side, they too could make the latter stages of the competition, as a bonus-point win would see them up to 18 points and strong contenders for one of the top three runners-up spots.
  • Edinburgh Rugby led 12-6 at the break in Round 5 before a pulsating second period saw the lead exchanged between the sides, before the home side escaped with a 34-33 win.
  • Stade Francais Paris do have the services of flanker Mathieu De Giovanni, who is the top tacklers in the Challenge Cup, having completed 84, while Edinburgh Rugby will be hoping centre Chris Dean continues the form which has seen him made 10 clean breaks, more than other player in the competition.

Stade Francais Paris seized a European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-final spot in sensational style after ending Edinburgh Rugby’s 100% record in Pool 4.

  • This was the final match of the entire pool stage and Pool 1 runners-up Dragons were eagerly awaiting the result to find out if they would be the eighth and last side to qualify.
  • Instead it was the defending champions who sneaked in, securing a trip to Pau in the last eight over Easter weekend.
  • Prop Paul Alo-Emile got them off to the perfect start with a close-range try after two minutes, converted by Shane Geraghty. Jonathan Danty then made it 12-0, although Geraghty missed the conversion and a further penalty before the interval.
  • Edinburgh came back into the game on 52 minutes when Damien Hoyland touched down in the corner, but the home fans were in raptures when their hero Sergio Parisse finished off some slick handling to make it 17-5 on the hour.
  • Some nifty Dougie Fife dribbling enabled him to score in the corner and set up a grandstand finish, but Stade were not to be denied.
