2016 Champions Cup finalists Racing 92 take on Leicester Tigers at Stade Yves-Du-Manoir on Saturday in a repeat of their epic semi-final two years ago, live on Sky Sports and beIN Sports. Both teams will be looking to make it out of a strong looking Pool 4, having not reached the quarter-finals last season.
- The clubs have met three times with each of those encounters coming in the previous two seasons. Racing 92 were victorious in the 2016 semi-final at the City Ground, while the sides shared one win apiece during last season's pool stage.
- Leicester wing Jonny May scored five tries for Gloucester in last season's Challenge Cup – only Ospreys' Keelan Giles (7) scored more.
- Racing have lost six of their last seven Champions Cup games, this after losing just one of eight before that run (W6, D1).
Racing 92 won a nip-and-tuck clash at Stade Olympique Yves-du-Manoir as three rapid tries in the first half ultimately proved decisive against Leicester.
- Leicester got off to an ideal start with Luke Hamilton crossing after three minutes, but Leone Nakarawa, Bernard Le Roux and Teddy Thomas tries seized a nine-point lead for Racing.
- Jonny May's score reduced arrears for the Tigers, and May was inches away from giving Leicester the lead just before the break, but the ball was dislodged from his hands just as he was about to touch down in the corner (see pic above).
- There was just a penalty apiece in the second half as Leicester were unable to breach the Racing defence again, and the TOP14 side could have extended their lead towards the end.
- ?Leicester coach Matt O'Connor reflected: “There’s a little bit of disappointment in the changing rooms, but they were a little bit better and deserved the win.”
