Glasgow Warriors travel to face Montpellier on Saturday afternoon

Glasgow Warriors travel to face Montpellier on Saturday afternoon, and will be hoping for revenge after losing 29-22 to the French side in last week’s Champions Cup Round 3 match, live on Sky Sports. This will be the third time Montpellier have hosted the Warriors, but they are yet to beat them at Altrad Stadium (D1, L1).

· Glasgow have lost just one of the five previous meetings between the clubs (W3, D1), however, that defeat was at Scotstoun in Round 3.

· Having won just once on their first 14 visits to France (L1, D12), Glasgow have now won twice on their last four excursions, including a 23-14 win over Racing 92 in their last such fixture.

· Glasgow are enduring their worst start to a Champions Cup campaign since losing their opening five pool games in 2012/13.

Montpellier clinched back-to-back victories over Glasgow Warriors to stay in contention for the latter stages of the European Rugby Champions Cup after a 36-26 victory at Altrad Stadium, leaving the Scots still seeking their first win in Pool 3.

·   Showing a number of changes, Glasgow impressed in the opening half and were worth their 19-14 interval lead having crossed for the opening try inside a minute when Fraser Brown went over after Jesse Mogg’s kick was charged down.

·  Peter Horne and Nick Grigg also crossed for the visitors before the break with Nemani Nadolo and Romain Ruffenach tries keeping the French side in contention.

·  Montpellier grew in confidence in the second half and two tries from replacement Henry Immelmann and one from Benoit Paillaugue were just reward for their dominance as they secured a bonus point.

·   There was small consolation for Glasgow with George Horne earning a bonus point by rounding off a slick handling move ten minutes from time to cut the deficit to 33-26 but Francois Steyn’s late penalty finally killed off their chances in a frenetic contest.
