Leicester Tigers will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday evening at Welford Road as they take on Castres Olympique, live on Sky Sports. Tigers have lost three games on the bounce for the first time in their European history, and will hope to avoid a fourth defeat against a Castres side who drew to Munster last weekend 17-17.
· This will be the first meeting between the clubs despite the two having played a combined 222 games in the European Cup (Leicester – 145, Castres – 77).
· Tigers are unbeaten in their last 15 home games against TOP 14 opposition (W14, D1); the last French side to win at Leicester was Biarritz in January 2005.
· Castres have not won away to Premiership opposition since October 2001 (v Harlequins), since then they have drawn one and lost 10 away games in England.
Telusa Veainu spearheaded Leicester Tigers surge to the Pool 4 summit with a comprehensive 54-29 triumph over Castres Olympique in an action-packed thriller at Welford Road on Saturday evening.
- Tongan full-back Veainu starred with three scores in 20 minutes, while prolific flyer Jonny May added a brace of tries as well as scrum-half Ben Youngs and winger Nick Malouf making marks on the scoresheet.
- In response Castres winger David Smith bagged a trio of tries himself and Alex Tulou joined the scoring, but it was far from enough to squash the advances of the rampant Tigers.
- Following a trio of penalties from fly-half George Ford his England colleagues May and Youngs dotted down the first two tries within 10 minutes of each other before the Veainu assault commenced.
- The No 15 took his first two before the interval to clinch a bonus point for Leicester and Veainu continued to dominate as he raced in a third score to extend the Tigers' advantage to 47-3 just after the break.
- Tulou chipped in for Castres soon after, only for Malouf to extend the Leicester advantage, before Smith offered a consolation for the travelling fans with a hat-trick of tries in nine minutes around the hour mark, yet the Top14 side's search for a first away win over English opposition since 2001 continues.
