Edinburgh Rugby sealed a home quarter-final in the European Rugby Challenge Cup after a thrilling finish to their Round 5 encounter with Stade Francais at BT Murrayfield.

  • Junior Rasolea's try with a minute of the game left was the last act of a rollercoaster second half which saw the lead exchanged frequently.
  • There were no tries in the first half, although four penalties from Sam Hidalgo-Clyne gave the hosts a 12-6 lead, with Jules Plisson striking twice from the tee for Stade Francais.
  • After the break, Plisson hit a third penalty before two tries arrived in a minute, Sekou Macalou piling over for the visitors before Hamish Watson thundered through for Edinburgh, with Hidalgo-Clyne's conversion making it 19-16.
  • When another Plisson penalty and a Waisea Vuidarvuwalu try made it 26-19 to the TOP14 side, Edinburgh's 100% record looked wobbly.
  • Jaco van der Walt then jinked his way through for an unconverted score before kicking a penalty to seize the lead for Edinburgh again, only for Craig Burden to grab it back for Stade, making it 27-33.
  • Rasolea's late intervention saw BT Murrayfield erupt and Blair Kinghorn landed a knee-trembling conversion to leave Stade Francais hoping for a best runner-up spot.
