Castres Olympique still have an outside chance of qualification from Pool 1 but need a win at Treviso to keep their slim hopes alive.
With Wasps and Perpignan playing each other, should Castres beat Benetton with a bonus point they set up an interesting Round 6 match at home to Wasps that could decide who qualifies from the Pool.
Castres lost 30-3 at Perpignan in the last round while Treviso were hammered 5-71 at home by Wasps.
When the sides met in October, Castres ran out 41-22 winners in front of 6,500 at Stade Pierre-Antoine
Castres winger Jean-Baptiste Peyras Loustalet scored a hat-trick of tries in the final quarter to see off Treviso and keep the pressure on Heineken Cup pool rivals London Wasps.
Castres play Pool 4 leaders Wasps at their Stade Pierre Antoine fortress next Saturday – in a winner-takes-all match, and will be confident of overturning their 19-13 loss to the English club in the first round.
Treviso went into the match on the back of 11 straight losses in Europe, but an early try to veteran Italy winger Massimiliano Perziano and the boot of Marius Goosen gave the 1,600 home fans at Stadio Comunale di Monigo hope of an upset.
Castres trailed 16-14 at halftime, but moved up several gears as New Zealand fly-half Cameron McIntyre and Peyras Loustalet scored quick-fire tries, before the winger added two more in the final five minutes.
