Scarlets welcome three-times European Rugby Champions Cup winners RC Toulon to the Parc y Scarlets on Saturday afternoon for a winner takes all Pool 5 showdown, live on Sky Sports.

  • With just one point separating the sides, RC Toulon currently at the Pool 5 summit, there is everything to play for in Round 6 as quarter-final places are secured.
  • Scarlets have lost two games in the competition so, while RC Toulon have slipped just once, but the Welsh region have kept pace courtesy of three try-scoring bonus-points, a feat the Top 14 heavyweights have achieved just once this term.
  • As the five pool winners and three best placed runners-up progress to the last eight, there is a chance both sides could make the latter stages of the competition, but both will be eager to seal their own fate.
  • When Scarlets travelled to the famous Stade Felix Mayol in October for a Round 1 clash, they pressed the French side right to the death, but eventually lost 21-20, but their opportunity to amends could pay great dividends.
  • RC Toulon head into Round 6 having won more rucks than any other side in Pool 5, taking 623, while Scarlets have dominated the line-out, with 63 wins to their name.

Scarlets topped Champions Cup Pool 5 with a wonderful win in Llanelli and Toulon also progressed into the quarter-finals as best runners-up.

  • A record Parc y Scarlets European crowd of 14,476 watched the home side become the first Welsh region for six years to reach the last eight of Europe's premier competition.
  • After their stunning win at Bath last Friday, Scarlets followed it up with their fourth win in a row – an amazing turnaround after they lost their opening two pool matches.
  • The first half was incident-packed with Scarlets starting strongly and scoring after two minutes when Rhys Patchell set up Tom Prydie. But Toulon responded with Duane Vermuelen driving over after a lineout.
  • Dan Jones and Anthony Belleau exchanged penalties but Chris Ashton then intercepted a Patchell pass to sprint 70 metres and score. Aaron Schingler then charged down a Belleau kick and set up Hadleigh Parkes.
  • Penalties were again exchanged by Jones and Belleau before Dan Jones scored a converted try from a lineout. There was still time for Belleau to kick three more points and miss a further penalty before half time, when Scarlets led 27-21.
  • The second half was more cagey, with a Patchell penalty for Scarlets and two by Francois Trinh-Duc, but Toulon could not quite reel Scarlets back in, with a long-range Trinh-Duc penalty sailing wide at the death.
